Fiadhnait Canning is a woman on a mission to have her Debs Dance - a young adult milestone which she was previously excluded from.
Fiadhnait purchased a ticket for her Debs, then received a phone call the night before from the student committee saying there was no space for her to attend. This Fiadhnait said crushed her. She was excited about going for weeks until this call.
She is determined for her Second Chance Dance this September be inclusive and to embrace anyone else who missed out in this young adult milestone. Her Second Chance Debs Dance is for adults who never had a chance to go to their Debs dance for whatever reason.
"I realised I am not the only one in the world to be excluded for something that they were looking forward to"
She has got her dress, picked out the shoes and booked the venue for September.
The event is now being seen as a national event with interest from right across the country.
The event will be held on Saturday the 14th of September 2024 at 7.00 pm at The Odeon
57 Harcourt Street D02 VE22 Dublin 2.
All people need to do now is book their tickets at Eventbrite
In Southern Ireland, the “Debs” dance has come to mark the end of schooldays, a romantic night-to-remember that represents the transition from childhood to maturity.
Teenagers view it as a stepping stone to adult life and its really one of the highlights of their late teens and early adulthood. If you did not know Debs season is happening all around the country in Ireland right now.
"Second Chance Dance is about you going out and having the best night of your life."
There is huge anticipation about what people will wear to their Debs dance and its evening dresses for the girls and black tie for the guys traditionally.
Little Miss Party Planner Fiadhnait came up with the idea around social inclusion for everyone with her individual self-advocacy project: Second Chance Dance.
She says ‘Some people have been excluded from social events in the past.
This project will give others that moment when they were wronged and not given a chance to have that experience’.
Join her and her team at The Odeon on Saturday, September 14th 2024 for a night of fun, music, including a performance from Sing Along Social, and great company as they give you a second chance to dance the night away.
The ticket includes 2 drink tickets (beer, wine or soft drinks) and a BBQ dinner!
Don't miss out on this opportunity to make new memories and create unforgettable moments!
Tickets are priced to ensure anyone who would like to attend and is not working at the moment will be able to afford entry into The Second Chance Dance:
Full Price Tickets - 45 euro each
