The origin of Van Velze’s chocolates & cocoa is a real love story.
Whereever there is chocolate there is love somewhere in the air or in the cup.
A chance meeting in Darwin, sowed the seed for the sweetest of adventures when Irish woman Deborah and Dutchman Rob met, fell in love and grew an idea to open a chocolate shop dedicated to using responsibly sourced cocoa and the highest quality local ingredients.
In 2008, they launched Van Velze's Chocolaterie and Patisserie in the heart of Amsterdam, quickly establishing themselves as one of the cities favourite chocolate destinations.
However, the draw of the West of Ireland was strong; so the dynamic duo have now relocated their award winning chocolate shop to Ballinrobe, Co Mayo; where they will continue to source the best ingredients locally.
